Bean Processing Line 5 Ton

For food processors seeking a complete, automated solution that ensures consistent, high-quality bean preparation, Herbort’s bean processing line delivers—from feeding to final cutting.

It starts with a storage bunker for smooth, continuous feeding. Pre-cleaning involves an air sifter, washer, and vibrator for thorough cleaning and drying. Beans are trimmed in two parallel lines, each with dual snippers that remove stems, tendrils, and tops. Drum sorters catch any untrimmed beans to ensure uniform quality. Finally, the beans are declustered, aligned, and cut—ready for freezing, blanching, or further processing.

  • Fully automated line from feeding to final cutting
  • Precise trimming and sorting for consistent quality
  • Gentle cleaning and drying to protect product integrity

Storage and feeding

To ensure smooth and constant even feeding into the processing line,
the Herbort Storing/feeding bunker is a trusted and reliable solution
available in different capacities to fit your needs.

Pre-cleaning and washing

The  cleansing begins with the Air Sifter (models 031C, 032A, 033A), removing light impurities from dry beans. The product is introduced into an upward airstream that separates lighter components based on specific weight.

The beans move on to the Herbort 780 washer, designed for thorough yet gentle cleaning. With a powerful combination of horizontal and vertical water flows, integrated stone removal and adjustable spray nozzles, the machine ensures optimal washing results while protecting product integrity.

Finally, the Vibrator 207 efficiently removes excess water through gentle shaking, delivering drier beans ready for the next processing stage.

 Trimming

The beans are split into three parallel lines by a Herbort Vibratory Feeder each with two snippers in series, the splitting can be manually controlled.

First, the Bean Snipper 75 removes stems, tendrils, and tops using a slotted drum and tendril remover, achieving nearly 100% tendril removal and 50–70% snipping efficiency. It’s followed by a second snipper, which performs further snipping with similar drum elements to optimalise snipping efficiency.

The removed tendrills and cut of tops are conveyed of from underneath the snippers.

Sorting

In each line there is a Herbort Bean Drum Sorter a high-capacity bean sorter that removes untrimmed beans after destemming. Trimmed beans pass through a rotating drum, while untrimmed ones are lifted out by the drum and fall on an internal conveyor.
A flap roller prevents blockages and adjustable drum speed allows optimal sorting across product types.

This sorting drum is used after the bean snippers to separate untopped beans of the already topped products, sorted produce goes further in two different streams.

Cutting

The sorted trimmed Beans are conveyed onto a declustering vibrator to aline and decluster the beans. At last the beans are fed into a Herbort Bean cutter 11, now the beans are ready for further processing such as IQF-freezing, blanching, etc.
